Birthdays and Bucket Lists

Sometimes the events in our lives completely change our perceptions of what’s important. Suddenly, every birthday really becomes another year to celebrate. Every holiday becomes an opportunity to experience and appreciate another travel destination we’ve always dreamed of visiting.

The Land of Smiles

Our last full day in Bangkok, so we’ve been busy exploring. First, Wat Arun or Temple of the Dawn. Then a short ferry ride across the river, to visit Wat Pho and the giant reclining Buddha. Later on, a rooftop treat looking out over all of Bangkok!

Back to Bangkok!

Our Thai Airways flight back from Phuket to Bangkok this morning, followed by an opportunity to explore Bangkok’s Chinatown.

Paradise Found

A touch of escapism today, as we took a ferry sailing to Kho Phi Phi island for a one-night stopover.

Paradise Lost

A travelling day today, as we flew south for a short beach holiday in Phuket. We’ve got ourselves a sea view at the quieter end of Patong Beach for the next few days!

Muang Boran, the Ancient City

An entire day spent on traveling to and visiting this immense outdoor cultural theme park. A mixture of actual buildings which have been relocated, and replicas of important buildings or monuments typically done at one third scale.

So there we were, minding our own business in Lumphini Park, when suddenly this ****ing HUGE Water Monitor Lizard clambers up the bank and starts heading straight towards us!

In Bangkok at twelve o’clock

Going out in the midday sun, to visit the National Museum. Then souvenir shopping along the Khao San Road.

Messing about on the River!

Today we hopped on the tourist express boat, and headed north along the Chao Phraya river. Our destination, the Grand Palace, and the temple of the Emerald Buddha at Wat Phra Kaeo.
