With only one full day left in the resort before our late flight back tomorrow, we decided to stay local, kick back, and just enjoy the Caribbean.
Another full day of exploring, with a bus trip down the coast to the resort town of Playa del Carmen, and a ferry across to the Isla de Cozumel.
Day one of a two day trip to visit Chichén Itzá. Today we’re calling in at the old Spanish colonial city of Valladolid, before continuing on to an overnight stay at Chichén Itzá, allowing us to visit the Sound & Light show there in the evening.
Today we’ve planned a full day out at Xcaret, an environmentally friendly theme park showcasing the very best of Mexico’s flora, fauna, cuisine and folk traditions. The park has some impressive conservation credentials, with part of the admission price going to support programs protecting ecosystems and endangered species.
Our first day in the resort, and we had already booked tickets online for the ferry crossing to the nearby island of Isla Mujeres. With only eleven hotel nights and so much to see, we had planned most of our itinerary in advance including online tickets wherever possible.
