So, a year and a half down the road, and today was a 6-month review with my haematology consultant.

At long last, every single one of the Full Blood Count results is back inside acceptable ranges, and it’s the first time I’ve heard the word ‘remission’ in its true clinical context. As in, the consultant telling me “You are now in remission”. Not ‘cured’ – that doesn’t happen with Leukaemia, and I know it will come back one day – but remission means there is no measurable indication of the condition in the tests he’s done. Next best thing to a cure! It’s a real milestone, and knowing the treatment has been successful makes the side effects easier to live with!
I can’t describe how pleased I am with the news!
