One last weekend away in the caravan, before Winter descends. We stayed for 3 nights at the Greenway Touring Park, about 9 miles north of Ludlow and just outside the small town of Craven Arms.

Ludlow 2011 009

A plain and simple site, with just a handful of people staying at the end of the season, and lovely views of open countryside. It proved to be an ideal base to visit Ludlow for some pre-Christmas shopping and sightseeing.

Ludlow is famous for its fine food and its restaurants. We steered clear of the Michelin stars, but found ourselves another star in The Olive Branch restaurant just a short distance off Castle Square. A gorgeous selection of hot foods, salads, and plenty of vegetarian options, and the best glass of house red I’ve encountered in a long while. For tea and sticky buns, try De Grey’s tea rooms at the top of Broad Street. And if you want to take some of the local food home with you, there’s the Ludlow Food Centre just a few miles north of town.
